The Karate Series

Jeff Winslow's Karate series are paintings taken from photographs from both current Martial arts magazines and classic texts on this Japanese art.

With Martial arts being such an important part of his youth, they became an obvious choice of expression.

"Having done these techniques a countless number of times, when I look at these photos I can feel them in my bones."

Although some of these paintings pay a nod of respect to previous masters of Karate, these visceral, and some might say agressive paintings are rooted in the movements and sensations of the flesh.
